Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a betareader I offer a few unique traits:
- I am current;y searching for a publisher for my novel
- therefore it's currently being edited, so I understand the editing process
- I see a possible future in book editing so I am only too happy to help. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have been told I am a great editor when it comes to punctuation, grammar and finding better words to use in your story.
I am particaulary good at assessing speech in stories (speech marks, grammar, when and when not to use direct speech).
As a writer reviewers have told me I have a great way of capturing the reades attention and moving the plot along, so if this is something you would also like aid in I'd be only too happy to help. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Unfortunately I am bored easily. I prefer a story where the action moves along quickly. Reading through endless descriptions of the place and people doesn't sit well with me. For example, Lord of the Rings - I hae often tried to read the novels and fail dimsally, for it seems for the most part all they do is walk and camp. SO if your story if a heavily detailed one with lots of travelling, I may not be the ideal reader for you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love adventure stories, action stories and so forth. Some of the books I enjoy include:
- Maximum Ride
- Inkspell
- Percy Jackson
- Hunger Games
- The Luxe
- Artemis Fowl
- Alex Rider & Power of Five
- Tomorrow when the war began
and so forth
When it comes to movies, again, I like the same kinds of genre - epic action/adventure flicks. Troy, the Patriot, Titanic, Pearl Harbour, Pirates of the Carribean, Matrix, the Last Samurai, Peter Pan (2003 version). And so forth
I love Harry Potter. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Do not ask me to read crossovers.
Do not ask me to read anything involving vampires.
Be careful when asking me to read a soppy romance story.
Generally, don't ask me to read fanfics about TV shows - stick to movies or novels.
Read it over yourself first and make sure your happy with it.
No horrow stories either please.
And the more original the story, the more I (and future readers) will take to it. |
