Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Editing is seriously my passion, and I have a lot of editing experience under my belt, both formal and informal. I've proofread my peers' essays throughout high school and college, I work for my university's newspaper as a copyeditor, and I'm also part of my university's fiction review. Therefore, I have experience with editing several different mediums. I'm hardly perfect, but you can be assured that I definitely know what I'm doing. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm a self-proclaimed grammar nazi, and I'm really good at spotting typos and unintentional inconsistencies and such. I'm also good at judging characterization and tone and whether they're conveying what the author is attempting to get across. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can be a stickler for plausibility, and I tend to have a prejudice against OC's, but I definitely recognize their necessity and use in fanfiction. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Genre wise, I like slash, romance, adventure, and witty humor. I'd really love to work with writers who know what they're doing to perfect their stories, but I'm down to help new writers learn the trade as well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Crossovers, Mary Sues/Gary Stus, script-form, vampire stories, gore, non-con. |
