Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am enthusiastic about spelling, grammar and punctuation.
My main quote on here seems to be; "the content, fine. The punctuation?" *Headdesk*
If you would like to me to beta-read your fic, then PM me, send me a link, and I will let you know as to whether I am inclined to help.
I'm a new beta, so go easy on me if I miss itty bitty mistakes; no-one's perfect. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at poetry, and I enjoy writing/beta-reading first person stories.
I read a great deal of "traditional" books (in short, the classics) as well as your read-in-the-bath-trashy-vampire-tween shit.
I can spell swears right 100% of the time. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Lots of tense changes. Sometimes when I write, my brain goes too fast and changes tenses, so it confuses me even more when other people do it.
I don't like converting work from text speak to standard english. That's just taking the piss. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta stories that I know very well.
I'm not going to look instantly pathetic by saying "Twilight", "Project Zero", "Repo! The Genetic Opera", "Labyrinth", "Buffy! The Vampire Slayer". There are a few, actually. Go for 90's cult schlock, and i'm there.
They are just the ones I could potentially help with content on.
I can spell-check, grammar check and punctuate most stuff. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
DON'T ask me to do extremely obscure stuff with immensely complex rhyming systems that is only held together with carefully balanced punctuation. I guaruntee it will sound like a Scot speaking French once i'm through. Just a warning. |
