Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm fairly new to beta-reading. I've beta-read casually for several friends I have on this site, and I do a pretty good job. I usually focus on grammar and spelling issues as those are my forte. I have a good eye, and I always try to be as accurate and efficient as possible. If I get sent stories in Word document form, I usually make my corrections and changes in brackets using a different colored font. That way, your original writing is still there, and you can choose to accept or decline any of my changes. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are definitely grammar and spelling. I'm very knowledgeable about the conventions of writing, and I can also give feedback about other aspects of a story, such as the characterization, plot development, etc. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
One of my weaknesses is that the story I'm beta-reading has to interest me. I pay closer attention to detail when I enjoy the work I'm reading. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will beta-read any genre; however, I enjoy romance, drama, and humor the most. I will also beta-read any category of fanfiction, but my favorites are the book and anime sections. My favorite fanfictions are based on the Harry Potter novels, and the Twilight novels by Stephenie Meyer, or the Inuyasha anime series. But I read a lot of books, watch a lot of movies, etc., so I will beta-read just about anything. Any rating is also fine; I'm 20 years old, so even mature stories are great. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I can't think of anything I wouldn't beta-read; maybe I'll think of some things later :D |
