Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
In the area of beta reading, I tend to reread the story over and over again so I don't miss anything. I look for grammar mistakes, punctuation and word agreement.
Anyone wishing to acquire my services must FIRST look over the story themselves. Don't be lazy. If you catch a mistake, GREAT. If you don't? I will. Don't make my job any harder, please.
USE SPELL CHECK. There are even websites for spell check! Can't find one? Google it. Don't send me a story riddled with "teh" and other such commonly misspelled words.
And please, if you're sending me something, make sure it's in .rtf or .wps format. I don't have Microsoft Word, so I can't accept .doc format. I want to be able to help you all out. So please, help me help you. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I catch grammar and punctuation mistakes. If something doesn't look right, I generally know that it isn't. I catch misspelled words rather well, if I do say so myself. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes, I skip over simple things. I look for word agreement, but sometimes, my mind will fix the word and it will be wrong on the paper. Like, for example, "Tara ride her bikes." My mind will sometimes make me read, "Tara rides her bike". Or, if it's a really bad day, I'll read, "Tara rode her bikes". Yes. We all make mistakes. Sorry if this happens on your stories. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta stories from the categories I know well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
OC character-centric stories. If your story has an OC and is NOT the center of attention, I'll beta it.
Categories that I don't know from a hole in the ground. I'm sorry, I just can't do it...
Also, unless specified, I won't take certain yaoi pairings. And example of one yaoi pairing that makes my skin crawl - Jou/Seto, from Yu-Gi-Oh. |
