Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I tend to read critically. I have an art school background, so I prefer to give constructive criticism, first pointing out the good, and then suggesting things one can improve upon. I'm honest, as I like people to be in critiquing my work. I want whoever is is whose work I'm reading to be serious about getting better as a writer.
I suggest that one read my work to get a better idea of how I am as a writer. I try to write things that I would like to read. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty good at analyzing character/relationships. Personally, I like characters—even OCs—to be fleshed out and distinctive. I think I do well at recognizing good pacing and dialog and whether or not it would be true to a character. I have a pretty good command of the English language. Thesaurus is your friend. I have a decent vocabulary and can spell pretty well. I have an art and photography background, so I can be a pretty good reference if one was writing on something technical in the subject area. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I used to have a lot of typos in my own writing, but I've gotten better. I haven't written much action. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Rating wise, K-T. I like romance, drama, angst, action/adventure, hurt/comfort. . .all that good stuff. I really enjoy reading things that focus on the characters. I'm really into Ronon/Keller right now, John/Teyla is a favorite as well. But I'm open to other rare pairings. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Content: Slash, PWP, graphic violence. Character pairings: Teyla/Ronon. |
