Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm pretty thorough as a beta reader. I beta a fanfiction by first reading it as a story--see if it keeps me entertained, if something is vague or confusing, etc. It's important to view the story through the eyes of the reader, first and foremost. Then I get down to the nitty-gritty, going over the piece for continuity, clarity, and so on. It takes me time to read through anything, so I ask for your patience. I will get back to you consistently, though. I can beta anything from one-shots to novels. |

Descriptions
I'm also a pretty good person to bounce ideas off of, and I'll do my best to help you get out of writers block, should you fall into that particular hole |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Grammar. If you're looking for someone to check your commas and run-ons and spelling, I do not hesitate to direct you elsewhere. I've become better over time, but I'm not a Grammar Goddess.
I also have a predilection towards plot-control, but I've become much, much better about keeping myself from doing so.
I can be overly critical. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'll beta almost anything. I'm comfortable with yaoi/slash, yuri/femslash, het, bi, threesomes, etc. I am capable of betaing all the universes that I have written stories in as well as countless others. If you are writing an anime/book/cartoon that I am unfamiliar with, I'll learn what I need to. It's tons of fun getting to learn a new fandom. I am also willing to beta smuty material. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Cheesy Romance makes me puke.
Cross-overs make me nervous.
Excessive Angst and Character Death are also no-goes.
And please, if you're going to insert an original character, make them believable and not all-powerful or leave them out. I have nothing against OCs...just be tasteful.
AND HARRY POTTER. I'm sorry, but I can't take the Harry Potter fandom. |
