I tend to be very honest. If I think that a fic is good, I'll let you know. If I think it needs more work, I'll let you know that too, but I will always give you advice on where to start in improving the story. While I like a wide variety stories, I will not beta a fic for a category that I am not familiar with. I will never ask more of you than what I can give. Basically, if I couldn't do it in one of my stories, then I won't ask you to do it in your stories. Grammer is important, but so is a good story. And as any other audience member, I don't want to sacrifice one for the other. But I might let a comma splice slide, if it's in the middle of a really good description or conversation between characters. And if the story needs more work on the plot, then I'll suggest ways to improve that before worrying about misspelled words.

I'm very passionate about my commitments. If I commit to beta reading your story, then I will put forth my entire effort. I have always made decent grades in my language and literature classes, so I am familiar with basic grammatical rules, and the parts of a story that make readers want to come back for more. I use a lot of dialouge in my own writing, so am familiar with how to arrange a conversation between characters for it to make the most sense. Everything I include in a story starts out with a very specific purpose in mind. And I will help encourage you to do the same and will look for inconsistencies in a story's plot.

I'm not the best speller in the world, and I sometimes leave out words when I type because I type faster than I think. I sometimes get carried away with miniscule and inconsequential things. I will occassionally fail to follow through with a plot line that I start early on in a story. I have a tendency to edit myself so much that I'll forget what I've already covered, and will either skip something important or repeat myself. And yes, these are the types of minor mistakes that I'll be looking for in your writing as well.

I like stories that are going to be long, and that you have either thought about for some time, drafted, or outlined in detail before beginning to flesh them out and add in detail. Planned stories are more likely to be finished. I like stories with a lot of character interaction, and a clear conflict that needs to be overcome. I like stories that make me feel something. I'm ok reading stories that contain abuse, and physical or mental illnesses. I also really prefer fics that follow cannon, but am willing read all kinds AU fics as well. I prefer stories with some angst, but a happy ending, or an ending that makes readers think.

I would rather not beta stories that involve slash or incest. I will beta stories that contain lemons, but since I don't write lemons, don't expect too many comments in those places. I would also rather not beta stories that contain the death of a major character, unless that character also dies in cannon, or it serves a much deeper purpose in your story than simply getting rid of the character or putting another character through undo emotional angst.
