Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I really enjoy going through and putting the polishing touches on stories. When I go through and read fiction on my own, I am constantly put off by typo's, punctuation errors and the seemingly endless pursuit of grammatically incorrectness! So, when I betaread, I do my best to "put on my editor's cap", and go over everything with a fine-toothed comb. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm thorough, and precise. I also have the ability to stop and take sentences apart, to see where the truth of it lies, and then go from there. When I am writing I am incredibly meticulous about details of my work, and the same goes for when I Beta. I am also very big on well-structured characters, or at the very least, certain In-Character aspects of a story. I like to know who I am reading about, even if it's in the most basic sense. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am confused by some of the slang terms that are often used. I can normally sort it out, depending on the context it is used in, but I still prefer not to use them, unless the situation calls for it. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Stories I prefer to beta... well, I have a fondness for the humorous, fluffy, sort-of romantic tales, but I have also been known to read dark, angsty fiction that makes you almost want to cry, because it's so emotionally powerful. And I'm a sucker for a well-written (adult) love scene. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not really sure I have any ideas of what I would or would not like to betaread at this time. I think it would have to depend on the circumstances. |
