Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to take a look at any complete or partially written work, outlines or just general ideas in order to get a better sense of where a story is going. From there I will return a copy of reviewed work with notes inserted for the author to reflect upon and alter at his/her discretion. Also, I prefer to review a piece of writing while chatting with the author online in order to throw out ideas in live-time.
For those wishing to use me as a beta, I would like him/her to know that I will in no way hamper their personal style but will only offer suggestions in order to see the story develop more fully. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a strong experience in characterizing a wide number of the Bat Family members and Rogues in addition to developing not only their speech and actions but they're first person narrative as well. For those wishing to learn to write in the first person narrative or those wishing to improve their skills in that field, I am more than willing to help.
I also like to see and use general literary concepts in writing such as a wide range of expressing dialog (not just "she said"), introducing the time/setting of a story as well as new characters subtly and artfully as well as developing angst, drama and friendships amongst characters with conflict. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Typos from typing too fast are my greatest sin (I am well known for typing Form instead of From). As a writer and beta reader I can over think scenes and work on them far too long when there are other areas that may need attention. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer multi-chapter stories but one-shots are always welcome, especially if they deal with Batman and Catwoman ;) |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't read slash so don't waste your time sending them to me. Also, I generally avoid humor fics so I wouldn't be to apt to review them for you. |
