Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I can be harsh (ask my friend Eni) and I can be moderate. I tend to look at the wording of sentences and the feel, love to help out smooth plot lines or characterizations. Any blatant spelling or grammar errors, I'll be sure to point out. It is up to the author whether or not my notes and suggestions are addressed, and they can be used as a jumping point to go in whichever direction you feel like. Short fics I'll be able to hand back to you in a timely manner, along with WIPs. If you have a nearly finished long fic, please take note I may take longer due to other responsibilities. I only want to help and enhance your fiction to our fandom. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can spot grammar and plot hiccups, determine whether the flow of the story is going well. For certain fandoms, I can easily spot OCness and how to parallel your story to the known canon. If your characters are in a rut, I can help bring them out with situations or settings. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Alas, I still may miss the more subtle grammar mistakes. Physical action scenes or mecha based sequences are a bit hard for me to do. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love magic, romance and intrigue. Well done Hurt/Comfort are my personal faves along with AUs (though no HS ones please) and cross-over or fusion fics (where you switch out the characters from another fandom). I also love vignettes or dark and serious fics.
I'm currently most active in Harry Potter, but am almost always willing to beta Sailor Moon, Escaflowne, then the others I've listed. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No Yuri please, nor incest or non-canon death fics. I'd also probably fail at looking over psychological stories.
When it comes to Harry Potter, I'm actually not a fan of the canon couples and usually only tolerate them in Gen fiction. |
