Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've never been an official beta-reader before, but I have been a proofreader. Not just in school, but for my sister, cousins and friends. I checked for grammar and spelling mistakes, awkward sentences or phrases. I was basically like a spell checker, just in person.
I'm in college and I'm learning a lot about writing, mainly academic writing, but there are certain things that are applicable to pleasure writing.
Not sure what else to say.
I don't just want to be the only one proofreading the writing. I would want you involved as well, so that you can get used to doing it yourself. With practice, you could be a beta-reader too. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar and spelling are probably the areas I excel at. I've had plenty of practice during school. Poor grammar and spelling are a couple of my pet peeves, so sometimes I can definitely be anal about it. Usually, though, I'm not that bad about it. I'm not perfect. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I take on too much. There's a cliche about people like me but I can't seem to think of it right now. I have an issue with saying no to people. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer to beta-read stories that are ones I can follow. I don't watch every tv show on the air. I don't read every book in the library. Basically, the stories I write/like are the ones I'm willing to beta-read. Bones, House, Buffy, Angel, Harry Potter, CSI, CSI Miami.
I will read any story to check for grammar and spelling errors. But if you want to know if you're getting the characters right, I can't help you there if I don't know the show/movie/book/cartoon, etc. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
There's nothing that I can think of right now, but if I do think of something I will update this. |
