Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been writing since I was in high school. I'm AMAZING at correcting dialog , punctuation or other-wise. I just graduated with a degree in English with a creative writing concentration so I have this whole writing thing down and I'm going to go back to school to pursue a PhD in Children's and Adolescent Literature. I'll correct punctuation and grammar and spelling and all that good stuff. I'll also give you suggestions in diction, vocabulary and sentence structure. I'll even give you critique on your writing style and give you some story suggestions if you'd like, but only on request. I'll also read pretty much anything in terms of what movie/anime/cartoon/etc that you're writing about. I've read a LOT of books and fandoms I've specified below are the things that I'm especially familiar with but I'll read anything, familiar with the characters or not. It's easier to email me (Natalia173 at yahoo dot com) than message me but I'll respond to either. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am awesome at punctuation, especially for dialog. My biggest pet peeve is incorrect punctuation for dialog and it happens WAY more than you think it would. I'm also pretty amazing at grammar and diction. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling is my weakness but that's why they created spell check my friends. And, though I might not know how to spell a word, I'll usually know when it is spelled wrong or if it's spelled right but it's the wrong right word (such as putting write instead of right). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm pretty much open to everything. Have no real preferences. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't really want to read anything... overly graphic. I don't mind adult themes, I just don't want to read a blow by blow porno. Also, I don't want to read anything that I need eight years of back story to understand what is going on. No sequels unless I beta read the prequel, no beta reading in the middle of a multi-chapter story. It's easier for me to read something and find mistakes on something that I can enjoy reading and understand what's going on. Also, I don't really want to read mystery. I don't really enjoy reading it, even when it's well done, which it's often not. |
