Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a student in university, so I do not have a great deal of free time, but I do have considerable writing skills. When doing a critique, I like to fix grammatical and structural errors in a preliminary read-through, then I focus on content and style in a more thorough read-through. I use simple criteria such as tone, readability, direction, etc. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm well-versed in formal academia style writing, so I'm great with grammar and structure. I'm also very experienced with story writing, and I'm good at picking up on a person's style, tone and nuance. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My English is much better than my French because I use it more often. I have some trouble writing good critiques when a story is about a subject matter that I do not like. I am occasionally biased in my critiques because I am most familiar with my own writing style. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like stories with emotional depth, where the characters stay in-character and you can relate to their thoughts and feelings. I also love character interaction! However, I am pretty open-minded, so I'm willing to read all kinds of fics ^_~ |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like reading stories in which the author has obviously not put much effort in. Male pregnancy fics tend to be way too unbelievable for me, so I'm generally don't read those types of stories. I can tolerate Mary Sue, but it's definitely not my favorite. Otherwise, I'm pretty much willing to read just about anything ^_^ |
