Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Anyone who has read any of my stories knows that I have some semblance of talent at writing...also that I have not updated any of my fics in quite a while. I am working to correct that but I have had a dismal amount of ideas and inspiration to go forth with. I was hoping that by helping others with their works I can regain that old spark I lost and get cranking with my own stuff. I have never betaread before but I know what is to be expected of a betareader and I believe I preform the task as well as possible.
I do have quite the eye for detail and have reposted my own fics multiple times when I catch mistakes I had previously missed. Anyone who wishes to take me on as a Betareader should expect me to pick through their stories with a fine tooth comb and correct any spelling or grammatical errors I find. I will also impart any ideas or suggestions I may have that could improve parts of the story here or there but I do not expect you to take them to heart. It would be your story and your's to do with what you will. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My main strength lies in my attention to detail, my tendencies towards originality and the fact that I strongly use character development in all my fics. My earliest fics didn't have some of these qualities so much but as I progressed onto newer horizons and broadened my skills, I found that the characters themselves and how they react, learn and grow is what helps to develop a story much better and originality works to garner a reader's interest in a story to the point that they keep reading and await for updates.. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
One of my main weaknesses is also one of my strengths in the fact that over the years I have gained a great eye for detail. It is what has kept me from updating as often as I used to in the past. I don't like to post anything unless I'm absolutely sure that it is shining at its brightest...though I still tend to fix parts here and there afterwards.
Another main weakness is my current lack of ideas to continue my works with. I made the mistake of working on too many fics at once without having fully thought through them all, so I basically have a bunch of unfinished work and I don't know how any will end. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Basically I would prefer to beta stories for most of the anime/manga series I have added as my favorites in my bio. I will also beta for some cartoons and Harry Potter stories since I have read all the books and have been getting into HP fanfiction. I'm also currently working on my own Harry Potter fics so that helps. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I tend to steer away from most crossover fics. I just don't like most of them though I do have a few that I enjoy.
I also will not beta any stories with guy/guy pairings. I'm not homophobic or anything it's just that I don't like reading those stories so if you have one in mind, please look for another person to beta for you. |
