Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a writer whose been in the business since 2003, I know what it means to be a newcomer and have your work judged poorly. When I read something, I will not openenly flame a story if it needs development. As a writer, I have improved my use of the English language but not to the point where I can boast about it, nor can I see myself teaching it. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can read fast and I have a semi-good spelling ability. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can't spot every grammar mistake. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Mostly action, adventure, romance, science fiction, and general stories.
I will be open to fanfics that have couples I don't support, save for the yaoi or yuri stuff. I will read fanfics from among the catagories I've written fanfics in as well as catagories I have NOT written in. When it comes to lemons, I won't beta read them; but if there is a fanfic that DOES have a lemon that only moves the story along rather than the "wamm-bamm-thank-you-ma'am" kind of lemon. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not read fanfics from catagories I am not familiar with, nor will I read anything homosexual. I have nothing against homosexuality in fanstuff so long as it is canon. For example, if someone were to send me a Sailor Moon fanfic which features Haruka/Amara and Michiru/Michelle as the main couple, then I will read it. Otherwise, I won't read it. But I may make some exceptions depending on the author.
Another thing, I have noticed that a lot of fanfics out there feature crude humor where there's no plot development, no character development, and is downright pointless. Humor is good, but unless it's something in relation to Looney Tunes or Animaniacs, I won't read it. |
