Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi! You can call me Beth; all of my friends do. See that? I can use a semi-colon correctly. That's what makes me a good beta reader. I also understand that they're one of the most absolutely useless types of punctuation. That's what makes me an awesome beta reader. br /br /

Joking aside, I'm a pretty straight-forward beta. I love bouncing ideas off of people and getting a story going. I'm there to help you talk things through when you get stuck, and when you've finished a fic and need someone to look through it, I will go through and color-code the whole thing with things I like, suggested changes, grammar/punctuation/spelling changes, etc, so that you always know exactly what I'm thinking. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Humor, definitely. I know what's funny and I know what's not. I'm also fantastic when it comes to understanding characterization and lining up some realistic dialogue that's fun to read. Oh! And AU world-building. I can help you map out the entire thing, find things that you didn't even know you wanted to include, and ask questions that you didn't know you needed to answer - but don't worry! I'll help you find the answers, too. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Angst. Depression. I really can't write that realistically or in an intriguing, original way. If I can't write it, what on earth makes you think I can beta it? |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Right now, the main fandom I'm most willing to beta for is Glee. I ship Klaine and love interesting AUs. I'm also a huge Sebastian fan, and I also ship Kurtbastian and Sebklaine, so I'd love to beta those. br /

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Heavy angst. Seriously. Please, no. I love reading it, but I would do a terrible job betaing it. Trust me.br /br /

Character bashing is a huge no. br /

I'm super picky about OCs. I got so many requests to beta Harry Potter Mary Sues that I finally had to uncheck the Harry Potter box even though Seamus/Dean was one of my first minor character pairing loves. If the character fills a necessary role in your story, awesome. If your story is ABOUT the character, that's usually a no right off the bat. |
