Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a fan of writing, and I am a bigger fan of writing well. Not everyone is able to spit out a perfect story first time around. That's where I come in. I can help correct grammar, spelling and simple sentence/paragraph/story structure mistakes, as well as help with characterization, plot consistency and overall story development. The way I work is fairly straightforward. You send me the file to edited. I highlight in red what needs to be corrected, comment in red why it may need to be changed, and return to you the copy with edits. I usually do this within a few days. This way, the you can see my suggestions and advise, and take it or leave it. If you wish to inquire about my services, please send me an email first. Tell me about yourself, about your writing, and about your needs from me as a beta. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am next to anal-retentive when it comes to the development of a story. A spelling mishap here and there is nowhere near as important as the story as a whole. My strength as a beta reader is that I can make sure your story flows, that it makes sense to the reader, and most importantly, that throughout the story, the details are consistent. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I try to make a story the best it can be, but there is always things to miss and always more to be improved. I do tend to go over a story multiple times before sending it back so there aren't as many things missed. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I can say that there are a few areas I have more knowledge on and therefore can provide a more in depth beta process... some animes, animals and pets, alternative lifestyles... but I am not restricting to these. I am always willing to learn about a topic in order to better help a fellow writer. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
There aren't many things I would discriminate against... it really is hit or miss. |
