Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I will betaread just about anything within fandoms I'm knowledgeable of. I have no limits as far as ratings or genres go, so I'll do just about anything I can. When betareading, I can either correct everything that needs to be corrected without notification or mark each correction I make, in the classical style of school paper grading. At the applicant's request, I can also add in a note that overviews what this person was having trouble with and might want to work on to improve his/her writing.
I can usually respond well to deadlines, and more than likely will have your fanfiction beta'd before any deadlines set. However, I'd ask that (depending on the fic length), you'd allow me about a week or so to review everything and make sure I haven't missed anything before sending it back. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strongest points are spelling and overall grammar. While most word processors have a built in spellcheck program, there are certain things it won't recognise as a mistake, such as differentiating between the use of where and were, etc. This is where I come in. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm a tiny bit shoddy with punctuation sometimes (as in, the overuse of commas) but I'm getting better. Also, I tend to make some dialog mistakes as I stylise my dialogs differently than most people do. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will only beta stories of fandoms I'm knowledgeable of.
I will almost without a doubt accept ANY Harry Potter universe fic to beta.
I'm very knowledgeable of this fandom so that's no problem for me.
I will probably also take:
Lord of the Rings, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Charmed, Avatar: The Last Airbender, various animes, Law & Order:SVU.
I can take a stab at other fandoms, but bear in mind I will be checking for grammatical accuracy, and technical writing errors rather than accuracy of your content. As long as you understand that I will NOT be held responsible for any flames regarding inaccuracies in the way you've portrayed a fandom, I will agree to beta for you. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not really a fan of Harry Potter slash fics, but I can suck up my issues with it and betaread if you really want me to do it that badly. |
