Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
If you don't see your category in my preferences, go ahead and ask! I'll only turn you down unless I flat out have no idea what you're writing about. I consider myself a pretty dang nice beta reader; I always try to find something kind to say, even if your story is rife with errors. I won't actively beta your plot unless you want me to (but if it is just really bad I might say something) and if there's anything else that you specifically want me to leave alone, I'll be perfectly happy to do so. I'll be honest, too--I'll try to not hurt your feelings, but don't be horrified if I think your story could be better. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm best at catching grammatical errors (spelling, punctuation) and, if I'm familiar enough with the fandom, mis-characterisation. (I know that it's up to individual interpretation, but some people are just seriously so off base it's not even funny.) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
If you give me a really long story, there's a slight chance that I might miss a few small things here and there because my beta-reading stamina isn't necessarily the best. (I'm assuming you have deadlines, in which case I'd probably do it all in one go, which leads to the above.) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Well-written ones. lol i'm kidding
Regular drama can be nice, because I don't have to worry about an incompatible sense of humour or insane emo angst. I don't have anything against comedies, though, because they often brighten my day! I guess just basically ones that you actually put some thought into. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No scat or vore, pls. (Is that even allowed on here?) Necrophilia is fine if you absolutely must because hey, YGO fandom! but don't be explicit because man what is wrong with you? Racism, homophobia, and transphobia will also get you a huge WTF NO. |
