Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta reader, I pay attention to how well the sentence structure seems to be flowing. I will also check for inconsistencies. I watch for when characters seem to be acting outside of the nature that is already presented. I also watch for when descriptions of areas change.
When I beta-test I will put all of my comments in the text in another color (usually a form of purple - it's pretty). I will also put questions in about the characters. I tend to believe that the more you know about your character the easier it is to write for them.
I am a full time Graphic Designer. This means that my schedule is project and deadline based. I enjoy writing fan fiction as a hobby along with role-playing. This means that there will be times when I will have to put beta testing aside for a few days, but I will always let you know when that will be in advanced.
I also prefer to get to know the writer. I usually prefer to get a file. Take 2-3 days reading and commenting then send it back to the author. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Dialog. I am really good at conversations and inner voices. I also know when a character needs to give the audience a bit more to go on then just action. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. I adore my spell checker in word. If I don't know I will look it up. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love good romance, bad romance, fantasy, and anything character driven. I love Buffy and Angel, Stargate Atlanta, Harry Potter (I have seen the movies and not read them), most comic driven stories, anything White Wolf, Bones and finally House. I am willing to try most things. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I am not big on murder mysteries.
I will not handle anything dealing with relationship abuse, violence towards women in relationships, child death, and rape. I don't believe that any of these function as a good source of entertainment and will not encourage them. |
