Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have a pretty good command of the English language, although I'm not perfect by any means. I usually focus on the technical aspect of the story (i.e. grammar and spelling), as I have grammar nazi tendencies. With regards to plot or story, I'm pretty easy to please. I also respect canon, so while I can tolerate certain deviations or slight changes in the way a character is portrayed, I will not hesitate to point out if I find that the character you're using becomes too OOC. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
If you're in need of a human spell checker, I'm your best friend. I can also offer basic advice regarding characterization, especially for the fandoms I'm familiar with. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I skip through description-heavy paragraphs. When I'm in a lazy or uninterested mood, I lose focus in what I'm reading and I tend to skim over the story. I'm not very good with stories written in present tense. Past tense flows more naturally for me. :) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer Persona 3 stories. Pairings, if it's a shipping fic: Shinjiro x FeMC, Akihiko x Mitsuru. However, I'm pretty flexible when it comes to pairing people up. BoyxBoy, GirlxGirl, Het, I'm all over the place. :P |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Stories with tons of grammatical errors. It's okay to miss out on several things and what not, but if you present me with a story that's chockful of them, well I think you'd be better off taking a course on English 101 (or Filipino as the case might be). I assume that those who will present their stories to me have a pretty good grasp of the language they are writing in.br /
Also, I am useless when it comes to discussing "intimate" scenes, if you catch my drift. |
