Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've worked on writing since I was about twelve years old, and I know how hard it is for people just starting out, believe me I know, I'll be honest, but kind, and I'll never judge a story on it's pairing, I believe everyone has the right to write what they want, not what the masses want.
I write mostly humor, romance and drama, and those are my favorite genre's to read, although I'll read a good horror if it catches my interest and angst is another favorite. I'll try to find something good and or unique about each story. I also won't be a flamer, there's nothing mature or funny about making an author new or old, male or female feel terrible about their work, and I have never done it, nor most likely will I ever, I believe no one has the right to do such a thing. Constructive critism yes, flames no. There's a big difference. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I believe my dialouge and character development are my best areas at writing, so I'll zoom in on problems with them right away. I nit pick my own stories, so it's likely I'd examine another with just as much scrutiny, just so the story would be the best it could be. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm slow unfortunetely, and it may take a few tries for something to finally sound right in my eyes. I've been known to completely delete and re write a chapter of my own stories after working on it for hours, so I'm slow, and a perfectionist. I also have a hard time writing narrative and descriptions, and writing hard core gore or romance of any sort. I also am infamous for typos, and having to go back to the chapter and fix it even when it's posted. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Romance, Drama Comedy, I'll read anything, but those are my big ones. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Hard core gore or sex. Also the story has to have at least some work done on it, I'll help you along, but I won't hold your hand through it. And if there are original characters, I'd really rather not read a Mary sue or Gary Sue. |
