Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a Beta I'm a very fast and thorough worker.
I work on two Word windows simultaneously: both of them will have your fic, but in one of them I'll be betaing and in the other I'll be writing comments and explanations of my correction in red. If you want to improve your English and/or your writing skills, I can very well send my comments to you.
My attention span is not overly long, so I'll do texts with more than 4000 words in about three days - two days for editing, another day for editing what I edited. Less that 4000 - say, one day, two if I'm more or less busy.

Como beta soy veloz y exhaustiva.
Siempre trabajo con dos ventanas de Word abiertas; en una corrijo tu fic y en la otra, sobre el fic "crudo", voy haciendo anotaciones y comentarios en rojo. Si te interesa mejorar tu español y/o tu habilidad para escribir, te puedo mandar los comentarios y correcciones explicadas.
Mis períodos de atencion son intermedios. Si el texto que me enviaste tiene más de 4000 palabras, voy a estar aproximadamente 3 días beteandolo: dos días corrigiendo y otro corrigiendo las correciones. Fuera de eso, puedo betear en un día, si tengo tiempo, o dos si estoy mas o menos ocupada. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My real strong point is grammar and semantics. I can make any story, no matter how bad, into a masterpiece-looking text. Also, I'm VERY honest, so I'll review your story like a real critic and tell you what exactly I like and dislike as the reader.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm useless when it comes to spotting plot holes. I can only tell small inconsistencies that are part of the same action sequence.
Example: I can spot it when a character leaves his house in a hurry and forgets to lock the door but when he comes back he has to unlock it. I cannot spot when a phone is cordless in one chapter and two chapters later the cable is used to kill someone...

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I hate long monologues with a passion. If your character has nothing better to do than sit and brood for the whole fic about what a bastard he has been and how he should change his ways, then I'd rather not read it, no matter how introspective it my be.
Oh, and I'm afraid of betaing lemons. Seeing how I'm still a virgin myself -no matter how perverted- and about as sensitive as a doorknob, I have next to no idea as to what your characters SHOULD be feeling in that position. Oh, I can still correct your grammar and puntuation, but don't expect more than that.

Ah, y le tengo pavor a la idea de betear un lemon. Vamos, si todavía soy virgen -no importa cuan pervertida- y soy tan sensible como un picaporte, ¿en qué te puedo ayudar? No tendría ni idea que lo que tus personajes estarían sintiendo. Claro que aún puedo corregir tu gramática y puntuación. |
