Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I don't do Beta much but I can lend a hand to help anyone. I'm not as good as the other beta and my knowledge in these things is only limited to the basics, but I would do what I can to help and aid with improving one's story. I tend to read a lot so expect me to analyze and clarify your stories so I could give my own opinion on what I think. I'm also willing to help you with the plot development as well as a character development. Though m priority is to help the story flesh itself out in a subtle way without making it concentrated for readers to understand, my basic one is to help with the spelling and grammar while, at the same time, also learn myself about it. I would be honored to help you with your works. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can do the basic ones like grammar and spelling, but I can also help with plot development (if you want me to) as well as due to I read a lot of stuff, I can analyze the story and plot in such a way I can give (unbiased) opinions for development. I'm also good with using word-replacements and synonyms if you need a more-fancier word or if you want to put something in the statement but can't find a way how to insert them without making the paragraph/sentence sound awkward. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Most of the time, I'm not good with a rush beta (lucky if I manage to pass the modified story on the same day as you pass it to me) so time is pretty much one of the major disadvantages of mine. I tend to take longer time if I don't understand the plot and I tend to be a bit critic when it comes to Original Characters. I also don't do well when I don't know the story (i.e. If I don't know what Twilight or Pirates of the Caribbean) so expect to explain to me what's going on or those nitty-gritty bits. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Since most of my works are from Anime/Manga and Games, I'm quite flexible with Anime/Manga and Games stories. I don't mind if it contains an OC, slash paring or otherwise, as long as it is from those genres I'm cool with it. As for the non-anime/manga/game stories, there's a limit on what I can do (though I'm not restricted to not doing them) but not as good as what I can do with the Anime/Manga/Game. Safest bet would be the genre of Anime/Manga, Comics, Games, Books(some) & Cartoons (very few). I'm more comfortable with adventure, comedy, action and slight psychological though others works too. Some of non-anime/manga/game that I can do with no difficulty: A:tlA, Danny Phantom, Deltora Quest, JtHM, Harry Potter, Ben Ten/Ben Ten: Alien Force. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
One of the things I cannot beta are Movies, Dramas, Plays and TV. For some reason, I don't seem to have interest in them. I may know some but I don't think I can do a beta with anything that revolves around them. If I can, most probably I can only help you with spelling and grammar, but as I said before, I'm not too comfortable with them. I'm also not comfortable with pure love type of stories, sadly, for various reasons so it would be wise if the love story have some side on it like comedy, tragedy, psychological or such. |
