Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have been a beta-reader for several different authors.
-I'm tough on grammar.
-I make sure spelling is correct.
-I don't like characters to be OC.
-I pick at the little details.
-I try very hard to respond to people quickly.
-I give detailed notes.
-I generally have good ideas for what to do if you get stuck.
-If you write about a subject that I don't know much about (stock market success in China, for example), I will make sure to look it up and learn as much as I can about that subject to make sure I can help as much as possible.
-If you use "u" for "you" and other such internet talk, I will probably not help you. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
-I rarely make mistakes with grammar.
-I work hard on specific diction.
-I'm usually pretty good at seeing if the characters are behaving the way the characters should.
-I'm well organized and thorough.
-I'm good with humor, romance, angst, and all those other genres. Well-rounded, I suppose. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
-My vocabulary is good, but not fantastic.
-Sometimes I'm overcritical and that can occasionally hurt people's feelings. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm not too particular over what sort of stories I beta. Canon, slash, AU, religious, nearly anything is fine with me. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
The only type that I sometimes am disinclined to read are cross overs. Just not my thing. Also, stories where characters join chat rooms that wouldn't normally join chat rooms (Harry Potter faculty, for instance), I don't have the time for those. |
