Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to read, so generally I'm a better reader and editor than I am a writer. I love to look over other people's work, and know (from personal experience) that it is easier having someone else edit your work rather than you editing your own work. My own work needs revising, and I am not looking forward to it. >.<
However, I hope you know that if I refuse to read your work, it is not because I do not want to, but other factors such as time, my own availability, etc. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammatically I'm pretty strong. I know which are run-on sentences, etc. I also feel like I can provide constructive criticism to any writer. My spelling is also stellar, if I do say so myself. (Winks) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Commas are a weakness of mine. Sometimes I add too many, and sometimes I don't have enough. Also, I think being too grammatically focused kind of leaves me weak in the actual storyline editing. But still, I think I'm decent enough to point out obvious mishaps in the story. Unless it requires me to remember something from 5 chapters ago-- my memory is also a weakness, I'm afraid. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer stories that have long chapters-- somehow, those stories seem to have more of a plotline to me. Unless it is a fic about oneshots. However, if not a oneshot, a 500 word chapter generally is a disappointment both to me and the future readers. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I definitely have stories I would not like to read-- such as stories that seem like they have been written by elementary school students. Spelling errors everywhere, run-on sentences galore, enough fragments to put a broken mirror to shame, etc. If you are just beginning to learn how to write, rather than learn the process of writing, I suggest you not look towards me to betaread your work. |
