Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta reader, I will watch for grammatical problems, possibly run your story through spell-checker, and watvh for characters acting OOC (unless you specify it as an AU story). I'm very critical when I beta read for someone, and generally keep my eye open for continuity errors within the story itself.
If you request my assistance, please be aware that I'm all for constructive criticism, and that I will expect you to be mature and willing to hear what I have to say. I don't want to waste my time on your story if you're going to get upset with me when I point out that your spelling or grammar can use some work. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm really good at spotting spelling and grammar mistakes (even though I make them myself). I'm generally good at watching for continuity errors and any OOCness with characters that exist in a standard cannon. However, I also appreciate artistic license as I am also a fanfiction writer. I'm not overly harsh and will point out things I like as well as the parts that could be written a little better. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm a bit too criitcal at times and can be very nitpicky. I'm very protective of my favorite cannons and am not a fan of OOC pairings, especially off the wall yaoi or yuri pairings - and although I won't get in your face about it, I will point out unrealistic pairings from the POV of the original world/cannon. I'm also not a fan of Mary Sues unless they are in a satyrical light. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like most types of stories. Shorts, novellas, whathaveyou, but in chapter form preferably. Crossovers and comedies are some of my favorites. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Mary Sues, PWP yaoi or yuri, or completely slapped-together stories that were not meant to be taken seriously. It's a waste of my time and yours to have me beta them. |
