Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I read chapters a couple times through. The first time, I read merely to enjoy and soak in the story. All times after, I read to pick up detail and grammar.
I do think stories must have strong grammar and sentence diversity to be considered well written. I won't touch the main idea except maybe to ask for clarification of plot points, the story belongs to the author.
I do ask that anyone I beta for be understanding that I am in college. I would love to make fanfiction my greatest pursuit during the day, but that's impossible. With my major comes a lot of time-consuming reading and writing. When I receive a piece to betaread, I do promise to have it out within the next couple of days with a response. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I like to take my time with writing. When I beta something, I'm going to understand that there was probably a lot of time put into it as well. Most likely it is a story that is cared about, and I will make sure not to just be like "well, this sux, moron, give up". Instead I will make note of things to be fixed/clarified/etc. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I may come across as bossy and arrogant. I do apologize, it is not intentional. I don't know everything there is to writing and I won't presume to tell you how to write your story. That may not stop me from asking "why this?" sometimes, though. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really have no preference. As I am mainly targeting correct use of vocabulary and grammar, the stories themselves can be pretty much anything. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Again, I can read just about anything. As long as it is not just off the wall grossness, then I should be alright with it. |
