Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I take being a beta seriously. It's not my own work I am going through so I often pick up on grammer, spelling of charicterization flaws I would not pick up on in my own stories. What I look for is small details that just seem off to me as well as checking spelling or looking at how a certain word has been used. I try to see every fic through the eyes of both a writer and a reader as best I can. I really have no expectations of anyone who wishes for me to beta for them. The only expecttation I really have is that you try you best to bring your story to life. If you can do that then I will help you to improve in the miner mistakes that writers tend to miss. Afterall, isn't that what a Beta is for? |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths in Beta reading are that I can usually find the flaws in the story that typically an author would not want there. I know in my own writing I tend to get a little flustered with myself when a reader tells me about my mistakes, but I'm also thankful when they are pointed out so that they could be corrected. Spelling errors and grammer mistakes often can confuse the reader from the story as they try to figure out what the author means by it. I would say that one of my strengths would have to be that I am often able to pick up on what the author/authoress means and help to better portray the visual they are sending out by picking up on something they missed and letting them know. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses as a Beta would have to be that I can be pretty slow on getting through the story if it is something I am having difficulty comprehending. I'll often be busy with life or other fic's so it generally takes me some time to not be distracted enogh to give on honest opinion. Though I do try my mind often wonders. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
The type of stories I would prefer to Beta over others would be yaoi/Yuri/Slash or even a none pairring. Though I'm always willing to try new things. I'm also willing to Beta crossovers depending on genre. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Something that would be 'not my cup of tea' would be anything that isn't really yaoi/slash. Though I do at times make exceptions. Like with any Inuyasha based fanfic and so on. If you are not sure then just ask me and I will answer you truthfully. I can be pretty open minded to different things. |
