Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a responsible betareader, and I have improved many of my editing and proofing skills recently in college - I am attending my third year as an English Major with a Writing concentration, and I've done a lot of betaing before that. I reread thoroughly several times after an initial reading. I know speed may be the issue sometimes, but I try to take my time betareading so that nothing is overlooked or missed for the author's sake. Please give me at least two days in advance to beta; although, as aforementioned, I take on emergencies too. Expect friendly communication from me and a job well done! I've beta'd several times in the past, and the authors are usually impressed. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, and sentence structure are my forte, but I am also good at discussing plot and character details if a second input is desired. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I'm human and overlook little things like commas, but with others' works, I'm usually very good about it. I'm also a busy new mom, so it may happen on rare occasion that I cannot accept a beta request at a particular time or may ask for more time. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Most genres I can handle, and I'm told I'm strong in romance, friendship, tragedy, and the hurt/comfort areas. I will read ANYTHING for grammar, spelling, sentence structure. Original characters I can help with, too, but if they apply to a fandom I'm unfamiliar with, my help may be limited.br /

Best Genres: Romance, Humor, Tragedy, Hurt/Comfort, Friendship, Adventure. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will say that if you ask me to help with a slash fic, I will probably have to say no. Not because I'm against it - I've just never written slash myself, so it'd be hard for me to just hop in. But if it is just grammatical stuff, I'll still have a look.br /
