Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When I beta-read, I use a fairly standard colour code for things I've changed, added or would remove. I'm quite a harsh critic, so you can expect me to pick out even the small mistakes. My main focus, generally, would be on spelling and punctuation. I can tell you if something sounds right when I read it, but I can't necessarily tell you whether or not it's grammatically correct - but I'll do my best. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling, punctuation, characterisation (certain fandoms only). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Syntax, sentence structure. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I only tend to beta read fics written for fandoms in which I also write - I feel that if I have a good enough grasp on the characters to write about them, I can do an adequate beta-read and check for characterisation, too. I'm willing to make a few exceptions, however, if all you're looking for is spelling, punctuation and grammar. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not great when it comes to beta-reading fandoms in which I do not partake, nor am I fond of beta reading sex-fics or real person fics. |
