Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Early on my mum made me take courses in writing, and I got into a school that places an emphasis on the humanities and social sciences, so I have a good basis in writing. I read a lot of fanfic, in addition to literature and non fiction, so I know well what bad writing is like compared to good writing.
Considering that my school is getting progressively more demanding, and I also am starting the college process (tests, summer program stuff, needing to plan my courses for next year, etc.), I don't have a terrible amount of free time, and what free time I do have I like to spend relaxing, and reading manga/fanfic/surfing the net, so while I will try to beta read things it may take a while (around two to three days, I guess, though maybe longer depending on external circumstances).

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm probably best at syntax, and though I don't know grammar rules that well, I have a very good understanding of what makes a sentence *work.* As a writer I'm good at describing things, like settings and characters, so if you're having trouble with that, I and my trusty thesaurus can help you out. :3 |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Plot.. while I can definitely help you out with it, I myself don't write very solid ones, possibly due to the fact that I don't write very much fanfic, and when I do they're often short. I'm also a bit shaking on dialogue, though I don't have as much problem with it when I have a good sense of the characters. Also, I haven't read Naruto very well past the time skip (excluding the most recent thirty or so chapters), so I don't know many of the characters in it asides from the popular ones.. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Though I am acquainted with a multitude of fandoms, I am most proficient in Naruto. I also started out reading Inuyasha fanfic, so while I don't like the fandom as much, anymore, I still have a decent basis in canon. If you're not sure if I know about the specific fandom you write, first check the categories on my favorites list, and if there are more than two of that particular category in it, then I definitely know it. (Excluding Skip Beat, which is my favorite manga, and I know *very* well! XD)
I have a preference for crackSakura, but I'm also open to many other pairings (excluding the ones listed below!). ^^ I also don't mind yaoi/shounen ai, or yuri/shoujo ai. I love angst, too, (as you can see from the C2 I manage), and violence, cursing, and sex don't bother me. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Please no SasuSaku, NaruSaku, LeeSaku, or stories relying heavily on the Sound Five, Kakuzu, Hidan, or Zetsu (as I don't know those several characters well). I'm also hesitant to beta-read fanfic poems. XD; |
