Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I believe that Beta-Reading is more than fixing the spelling and grammar of a piece of work. It's about making the story better, making it flow and making it believable. That way the writer can improve and develop their style.
With any piece of work, be it composition or report, I like to colour code, so that the writer knows which sections were good, and which need more attention, like rephrasing or general plot direction.
Last but not least, I am Australian, and while I will endevour to used the corect spelling of your country, some things may slip through. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at spelling, grammar, punctuation and just small things to make the story flow better.
I can be as picky or as general as you like with mistake and problems and I can ususally suggest an alternative if I have any issues with certain bits of writing. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I will skim over any lyrics or poetry in the work.
I don't like long chunks of writing, so please use paragraphs.
I might not be very quick in returing your work, but I will never take more than a week without giving you a very good reason. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Oneshots, humour, romance, dark matter, or series. Whatever it is, I go with the flow. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I do not like stories that are written really out of character or American Pie type humour. And poetry is just not for me. |
