Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am an enthusiastic, but critical beta. I believe sugar-coating never helped anyone: I can be rather direct when I'm criticizing. I just think it's better to hear critics from your beta, than to hear them in the reviews. I try to avoid it, but if I do sound harsh I don't mean to be unkind; I'm just trying to get my point across...
That said: I am a nice person, really :D, and committed to doing my job as good as possible. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I will mostly be looking at other things: character development, plotline consistencies, writing style... things like that. I'll tell you where you go overboard, en when you need to elaborate a little more. If you want me to, I'll also brainstorm about the future plot with you, but that is entirely up to you. I firmly believe that YOU are the author, and that I don't have anything to say about the story-line really. I'm just helping you to put it on paper in the best possible way. |

Major weakness: English is NOT my first language. So when it comes down to English grammar and spelling I am not your best shot, I'll be the first to admit that. I'm more what I like to call 'Creative Assistant'. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Humor, Romance, Action, Angst... I like pretty much everything. I've beta-ed smut in the past too, but that is not my preferred genre--I keep getting distracted. XD
I prefer to beta-read in the fandoms I'm familiar with: makes it easier for me to see when you're straying from canon or when your characters behave OOC. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I like some smutty scenes, but I'm not a fan of PWP. It's mostly NC-17 stuff that I don't like: incest, pedophilia, bestiality. I am way too uncomfortable with that to keep an objective point of view... |
