Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My big beef is grammar, spelling, syntax, story structure, diction, stuff like that. I might make some comment on characterization but when I beta I am much more a copy-editor than a writing coach, if that makes sense. I think I'm going to take an approach where I do two read-throughs: one for grammar/spelling, and then one for story structure/characterization/etc.
Send me a PM. If I respond (apologies if I don't, I rarely check fandom email...but if you get me on a day I'm checking my email, you will get a response, guaranteed), then send me a Microsoft Word document and I'll use track changes. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, general edits. I'm a journalist in training. =D |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Timeliness of response and being able to be reached. I'm kind of flaky with fandom, and life gets busy, and beta-ing (at least detailed, good beta-ing) takes a while. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Good with anything, really. I love shippy stories. Beta-ing jobs are easier with one-shots. A continued story might be difficult for me to beta, as an extended committment is not exactly what I'm looking for. More like stories with less than 10 chapters. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Lemons/NC-17. Yaoi. Yuri. Kataang. Long stories (15+ chapters). |
