Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I enjoy creative collaboration, and discussing ideas if it can be helpful, but if necessary I am more than happy to simply check grammar, spelling, assorted facts, sentence structure, etc. I don't mind messaging or just chatting to help work out ideas, or providing a listening ear while you brainstorm. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My vocabulary and usage of language would be my primary asset; strong phrases and description, as well as feeling for believable dialogue. And unusual wording, twists, I suppose.... Just tell me what you need in a beta, and I will seek to fulfill it to the best of my abilities. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Absolute realism has never been my strength; I tends towards surreality and warped perceptions. So I will not be the first to notice the strangeness of a section, since I have always seen strangeness as a quality worth cultivating. I will not always pick up on minor plot holes, since a distorted sense of reality can be well established by such lapses. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Edgy or experimental work; fantasy, the supernatural, alternate universe, strange situations (reincarnations, ghosts, convuluted romances, etc.) Dramatic and often dark stories. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
If I feel that a piece relies too heavily on cliches or established themes, it is difficult to muster my enthusiasm. Also, excessively fluffy romances are an absolute no. Everyone has a right to pen them as they wish, but I can't bring myself to read them, much less edit them. |
