Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader I mostly focus on small details like the difference between words like to/too and it's/its and so on and so forth. When I beta-read I'll read through your story and correct it as I go. I'll mark misspelled words with red and sometimes I may give suggestions to better your writing. If I feel that a story has other faults than spelling, I'll try to give the writer suggestions on how to better his/her story.
I'll read through your story at least twice in search of mistakes. The first time to get the flow of the story and pick up on details that stick out and the second time actively searching for spelling mistakes.
I'm an easygoing beta and I don't insult the writer for any mistakes they may make no matter how elementary they are. Everyone make mistakes and as a writer you'll have to expect that I'll make some too. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strength in beta-reading is to pick up on mistakes the writer make while mixing similar words like to/too, it's/its and your/you're.
Generally spelling mistakes like that are pet-peeves and I see them nearly instinctually. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness as a beta-reader is how to properly write spoken-sentences in a story. That is; when/how to write/spell the transition between the ending of the spoken words and the start of the usual narration. |
