Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
You'll need to be patient with me. I'm not an avid beta, but chances are, I'll do my best for you. In general, I can't catch my own typos, but given the correct situations, I'm a thorough reader. I will beta rather fast so long as I'm not overloaded. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm stronger in understanding stylistic errors than grammatical errors. I can catch typos and serious grammatical errors and spelling errors--anything that's obvious.
A lot of my work will probably be focused on characterization. As I am very, very ardent about accurate characterization, I am willing to help anybody who is shaky on it and can help guide the course of action if you need help. In Prince of Tennis, I am especially strong with Atobe's and Tezuka's characterization. In Yuu Yuu Hakusho, I am especially strong with the characterization of Kuwabara, perhaps Hiei as well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I miss things when I focus on something else, so two rough drafts might be necessary for me to ensure that I'm not missing anything. I do procrastinate sometimes, so if I don't get something back to you within a week, it's likely that you'll need to send me an e-mail. I do check them every day, so if you send me an e-mail I'll start working right away. As a quick warning, I WILL read humor, however, since my sense of humor is vastly, vastly different than most people on this site, I cannot guarantee that I will find your story funny or can give you feedback on how to make it funnier. So, if you're story is made up primarily of humor, I'm probably not the person you want to ask. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
As angst is my best genre, it will probably be the type that I'm best at beta-reading. I love drama and tragedy and will gladly beta for deathfics. I prefer AU to cannon, though I don't mind either. The pairings I would prefer to beta are TezukaxFuji or FujixTezuka (Prince of Tennis), AtobexTezuka (Prince of Tennis), AtobexFuji (Prince of Tennis), YuusukexKurama (Yuu Yuu Hakusho). I prefer yaoi but will beta for stories including yuri and het. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Crossovers in general. I will not beta anything that includes a cross between Harry Potter and/or Inuyasha. I'm very serious about any topic covering abuse, torture and rape. As these are adult topics, I will not beta any story that does not take them absolutely serious and accounts for realistic psychological effects on the victim. I also will not read character bashing. I also would prefer not to beta smut or PWP. |
