Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I actually love to beta-read. That probably sounds really weird, but oh well. I've already offered my beta-reading services to other fanfiction users, and most like my work. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I tend to be good at finding grammatical and spelling errors a lot better in pieces of writing that are not mine, which is saying something.
In my own writings, I like to write out a one-page plot before starting the actual story, and leaving notes in the margins of the story. I do this because I have a tendancy to have an idea, jot down the first four or so paragraphs, and then forget about it when I next feel like writing. So, if I find the story with the plot and the notes, I (hopefully) won't forget. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Not to be phony, but I'm not sure if I have beta-reading weaknesses. I mean, I probably do, I just don't know what they are. But I can say that I'm terrible at keeping my own and other people's deadlines. And I'm usually only on the computer on the weekends, anyway. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't have a specific preference, besides the categories I've chosen. Relationships, friendships, families, school, drama, happiness, comedy, anything interesting. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
It's not that I wouldn't beta-read them, it's just that overly descriptive stories aren't my favorite to read in general. As a generic tip: most readers, if not hooked within the first few paragraphs, will pass over the story and find another.
If the author has terrible grammar and spelling mistakes, I also will have difficulty enjoying their story, but isn't what this new program is all about? |
