Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to talk it out with people; offer suggestions and changes, have it rewritten, and talk some more. I expect that you have at least a good grasp on the written English language. I also expect that you have run your story through a spellcheck program- no problems with the occasional wrong word- but if I can't understand it, I cannot beta it. I am a snarky individual and am not afraid to be blunt.
I was brought up with American English and that is how I will spelling/grammar beta read.
I love realistic stories- not idealistic visions of what might happen, but plots that could concievably happen.
Usually, I have a pretty quick turnover time- I read obnoxiously fast. I have MSN messenger and will usually be up to all hours of the night during the summer. Once the school year hits in September, well, we'll see how it goes from there. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar/Spelling, Mary Sue/Gary Stu, plot doctoring, and characterization. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am pretty much no help with action sequences. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer reading stories about my favorite pairings, but am not averse to others . I also love highly emotional and psychological stories- getting in characters's heads and all that. If you want a detailed list of favorites, then see the bottom of my profile. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Smut, most yaoi/yuri stories- nothing against it, just can't really beta it well, fluff is one of those iffy ones. I WILL NOT do AUs that make the characters only people with the same name as the original- namely, "High School AUs", "X is the prince/ess of Y, who falls in love with commoner Z AUs", etc. |
