Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I pride myself on being able to help with consistancy in tone and mood in stories. I also do a lot of fact checking, both with original canon facts and any continuity issues you may have in your own story to make sure everything is consistant. I specialize in various anime and manga fandoms, but I also know quite a few literary fandoms and lots of movie and cult television ones as well. Feel free to ask...I'm probably familiar with what you're writing for and whatever canonical information is needed to be checked. All I ask is that you accept that I WILL be making grammar and spelling corrections that cannot be changed, and that you at least take into consideration any tone or style suggestions I might make (you can definitely disregard them, but at least be aware that I will be making some suggestions). If you're willing to do that, I can probably have each chapter beta-read and back to you within 1-3 days at the most! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a minor in creative writing, so I'm very quick at spotting basic spelling and grammar mistakes. Also, as a minor in creative writing, I've been complimented on my ability to help with consistancy of tone and mood in stories, and I am VERY good at checking and fixing dialogue issues, especially if you want the dialogue to sound more natural. I also try to double-check facts between stories and the original canon, as well as making sure facts are straight within the fics themselves. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not the best person to beta description scenes except in terms of spelling and grammar, as those are areas I struggle in myself and I don't think I am qualified to critique that area in others if I can't do it myself. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer character-driven stories over complicated plot-focused ones, but I can do both if needed. I also definitely prefer to beta canon-based stories rather than AU's, although that doesn't mean that I'm adverse to beta-ing stories that take place outside of what we see or that contradict canon if they are still in the original setting in some way. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm 23 and able to beta any rating of story, but I'd prefer to avoid any rape fantasies. Also, stories that glamourize self-mutilation or self-harm are not exactly my cup of tea. I'm a happy person and I don't mind angsty or tragic fics, but those two areas just tend to upset me more and I'd prefer not to have to subject myself to reading that sort of thing. |
