Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When I was starting out as a writer, I didn't have a beta reader, or a pre-reader as I used to call it. But then I met a friend online who read my chapters and gave me some great advice before posting it. I want to give the same thing that he gave to me back. What I look for in a good story is action, interaction, and details. Action must be exciting and variant. You can't just say "he said, she said" all the time. Change up your descriptions. Interaction - Characters don't just open and shut their mouths when they speak, their hands move, they put different looks on their faces. Details - make the reader see what you see when you're writing. If all I see are blank faces doing stick figure motions, then it's no where near a good story. And lastly, good formatting and grammar. If your story is a giant paragraph, or isn't word wrapped, it goes straight to the junk pile. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
It's easy to call someone's writing weak, but it's not so easy to find the good in a bad story. My reviews will encompass both good and bad so that you can improve as a writer in as many aspects as possible. Also if there are formatting difficulties, I can teach you how to straighten them out so the story can read better. |

I don't tolerate sheer flames that well. I also am a bit weak when it comes to detailed grammar, and sometimes I accidentally skip over tense errors. My anime library is not as large as some other readers. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Action series, especially those with an OC trying to fit in an existing world. Some romance stories that have a good sense of suspense and/or mystery. Good crossover matchups. Most anime that I know, or could research easily. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Lemons, no 18+ material please. I will accept limes though. Gay/Lesbian/Slash fics I would prefer to avoid, however if it's a canon relationship, I will agree to it. Bad crossovers, Sailor Moon meets DBZ is NOT a good matchup! |
