Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to work on stories with an even balance of dialogue and descriptions. Too much of one or the other could throw me off task and cause me to be distracted. Too much randomness is too much I think. A normal amount of strangeness in the story is simple to read, too much throws the story off balance as well. I expect the stories I read to continue on with a few breaks here and there. A one year break doesn't suit me and only annoys me because of the lack of intrest from other readers.
I would be able to understand the story more if I knew what the original work was about (book, game, anime, etc.) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel at writing in the fiction section, having written some stories of my own. My work comes out better if I'm intrested in the category. I do not know my true strengths until I worked on a few more stories. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Descriptions. They aren't something I'm particularly good at. The longest description I ended up writing on one person was about an eighth of a page long. Not very long and not very good. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Fantasy stories, stories dealing with magic, spiritual, most of the section. I also enjoy Romance, as long as the Romance doesn't go too fast or too slow. Oneshots are fine, but they have to have a point in them, a random oneshot (unless it's good) won't have a good impact on me. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't prefer stories with morbid violence and gore, even betareading it would make me sick. Stories with a basis on religion wouldn't make me happy either, I'm not really good with religion in the first place, and it's not good to work on something I can't understand. |
