Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta reader, I suppose I have a pretty simple style. I read over a fic, watching for dialogue inconsistency and OOCness. I sleep over it, and in the morning, I read over the fic again, checking for any more edits to be made.
I would expect that anyone who uses my services to at least have a basic knowledge of formating, which is really my only pet peeve. That and Mary Sues. And Gary Stus. Hate that. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm at my best with dialogue. So long as the writer is letting the character speak, and not their own bias, the story will be good. Also, action sequences are a strength. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I probably have a few weaknesses, but my most glaring one is correction of bad formating. I can reformat fics, as long as they aren't too bad to begin with, but if its a mess, I can't spin it into gold. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I obviously love the Superman stories; I run the C2 "The Fortress of Solitude". I think that I prefer those. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Very simply: No Mary Sues. I don't mind OCs, as long as they aren't writer masturbation. If they have a tragic backstory and can beat up the entire JL, then there are other Beta Readers you can contact. That's all. |
