Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I tend to be rather obsessive-complusive about grammar and sentence structure, keeping everyone in-character, and preventing original characters from seeming trite and predictable. I'm usually able to check for updates and requests at least once or twice a day. I can help with:
Andromeda
Star Wars: Only as far as the main book series and the movies; I've never read the comic books. My game knowledge is limited to Republic Commando and Starfighter.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Only as far as the English manga release; I don't have time to read the scan-lations anymore. I've seen all the anime episodes including the movie, however.
Kingdom Hearts: Can't help with any of the Japanese-only things, such as the novels and manga further than its American release. Open to anything else.
Naruto and Naruto- Shippuuden: ONLY UP TO Shippuuden anime episode 50. Anything dealing with plot futher than that, I can't help with and will be very angry if I get spoiled. Anything from the manga-only I can't help with EXCEPT Kakashi: Gaiden which I did read.

Grammar and sentence structure, as stated above. The little annoying things about the English language that most people give up on are my forte, as is varying sentences to keep prose interesting. Dialogue is my favorite thing to focus on, leading to my weakness in detail. |

Detail is my main weakness; I tend to forget everyone else doesn't know what's going on in my head. My other failing point is the big picture; I tend to get lost in the little things and forget the overall concept and confuse myself. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer multi-chapter adventure stories over plotless one-shots (though they are fun to write, I admit!), and stories with a well-thought-out, comprehensive plot. Romance I'll read, but expect me to gripe if the story seems to just be fluffy, out-of-character romance. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not beta anything past the latest Naruto: Shippuuden episode (episode 50); I'm paranoid about spoilers. Other than that, I won't read slash/yaoi, and that's about it. Also, I can't help with Fullmetal Alchemist manga beyond the point of the English manga release; I simply don't have the time to keep up with the scan-lations anymore, sorry! |
