Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have always offered myself as a beta for people on this site, but now that there is an area for just that, I'm excited! I'm very laid back when it comes to reading other people's work, but I do ask that they try their hardest on correcting everything they can before sending it to me. Everyone is prone to their mistakes, but that doesn't mean a beta reader should have to work overly hard on a story. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good at wording a sentence to make it sound the way the writer needs it to work out. Having been through college English courses, I have a rather large vocabulary that will help the phrasing of words and sentences that tend to confuse the readers. I also have a keen eye for punctuation. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I have the bad problem of taking a work I'm beta reading and changing things that I think would make the story flow a little better. I don't mean anything by it by any means, I just tend to have a little bit more of a college outlook to things. Whenever I find things to be looked at, I highlight it in red though, so if it was something the author purposely had this way, they can easily ignore me and change it back! |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really do not have a prefrence. I am prone to read more of the action/adventure, angst and drama, but I do love romance and the like as well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really do not care for the M rated stories that get their rating from being nothing but sex scenes. Yes, some people may like those, but I just really don't care for them in the least. |
