Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Okay, I decided to update my beta reader profile I made that profile when I was only a rookie and realised I made a big mistake. I have now been on this site for 3 and a half years, I’ve done it all and I have seen it all. I know what it’s like to be a new writer to this site, publish your first story and it’s not good enough? Only have one or two people supporting you and you don’t understand what you did wrong? I know the feeling and to prevent that I am here to help you from small mistakes to big mistakes. My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths would honestly be description and coming up with new ideas. I can also help you get rid of writer’s block, give you new directions to take your story in as well as helping with spelling mistakes, I can also give you advice on cliffhangers, where to leave them and how to use them appropriately. Oh and I am also very patient. To the newbies: I am willing to go through each chapter step by step with you if you need it because I know how daunting it is at first. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses would be grammar and vocabulary. English isn’t my first language, so my vocabulary and grammar aren’t the best however if you need that somewhere in your stories I will find out for you, after all even teachers don’t know everything. So if vocabulary and grammar are one of your problems, I will still do my best to help you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
All right for the preferences I will generally list out what I prefer to read fandom-wise:
Digimon: I prefer to beta adventure/action stories but with some element of romance. I also don’t mind angst stories in this as long as it’s not too depressing. I won’t do multi-chapter angst stories. Also I like to do friendship stories as well since friendship is quite the essential theme of digimon. As for couples, I am pretty open-minded the ones I won’t do will be listed in the Not My Cup of Tea Section.
Sailor Moon: I have recently gotten back into this show, the anime not PGSM the live action series. I like friendship and romance stories in this as well. I have fallen in love with the couples Minako/Allan and Minako/Motoki. I like Minako/Motoki better though since he can help Minako move over her lost love.
Harry Potter: I generally like reading friendship stories with the trio more focused around a somewhat romance between Harry and Hermione and generally a close friendship with the three of them. I will read explicit sex and rape scenes as well as long as they are within the site’s limitations. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Fandom-wise would rather not:
Digimon: Any of the Chosen betraying each other since I feel that would never happen in the series and another type of fic I won’t BETA is hate fics towards a particular character. As for couples that I really don’t want to BETA are: Michi, PataGato, and Kenyako. Also any incest between Taichi/Hikari and Yamato/Takeru I don’t feel comfortable with that.
Sailor Moon: The Senshi betraying Usagi fics and she goes and gets some new power. No thanks, those fics are unrealistic in my opinion. If you want that then go find another betareader who would like that. I also hate Usagi/Seiya fics. Usagi DID NOT love Seiya she only enjoyed his company because she felt he was like Mamoru. Usagi and Mamoru in my opinion is eternal love nothing can tear it apart.
Harry Potter: Again, no betrayal between the friendships. I may be a Harry/Hermione but I WILL NOT read fics where Ron gets so jealous of their relationship that he kills Harry or he becomes a death eater or where he rapes Hermione to get what he wants. Those stories are a no-no. As for pairings I will read any pairing in this unless characters are bashed!
