Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm in college these days, taken a few creative writing classes, I know when something works and when it doesn't.
When I read stories I focus on a few things in particular.
Did it make sense? Did you plot follow an understandable direction? Did your character's act appropriately considering their circumstances?
Are your characters 'In character' with the original work of fiction?
Did you come across clear in your writing? Did I know and understand wtf was going on?
Did your story interest me?
I expect you to have spent time and effort on your story, to have put thought in it, and to have read over it once for grammar. Other then that I'm laid back, I might be a little harsh if your work isnt strong, but I'll try my best to make it better. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm way good at picking up inconsistencies, out of character moments, bad plots, boring beginnings, and helping people focus a story.
I'm great at helping people develop a plot or theme.
Or I can help you with character development. (Lets put an end to those nosensical romances shall we?)
Need some help with your overall writing, making things active/exciting/interesting? I'm good there too. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Grammar.
Spelling.
I'll catch stuff if it is big or major or obvious. Do not expect me be your literacy Nazi. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love action and romance.
Adventure is always fun. ;)
Horror = lovely.
A great big smashup of everything.
I adore the final fantasies, especially the earlier ones. Harry Potter is cool, just don't bore me with it. legend of dragoon is my favorite game ever, feel free to throw even terrible writing about it at me. xD |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Please don't make me read your mary sue stories. :/ I don't care if you think your cool enough to hang with the gang, your not. |
