Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been beta-reading off and on for a few years, mostly for friends. I am fairly flexible, when it comes to style.
I don't think my expectations are too incredibly high, and I very rarely actually demand anything. I like it when there's a good, solid storyline, or even just an idea. I'd appreciate it if the story was finished, even if it takes awhile. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar and spelling are most certainly up there in my strengths; both my mother and grandmother were English teachers, so the English language and its mysterious ways are ingrained into my head. I also have a good concept of flow and structure. I excel in summaries, descriptions, and making everything fit and come together; I pay attention to little details. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I don't especially care about canon. Dialogue can also be hard for me, since I have a formal way of writing and talking. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't necessarily have preferences, but there are a few categories that I am just more familiar with: Harry Potter, Baby-Sitter's Club, Degrassi, are the types of fanfictions I myself have written. Still, I am open to most things. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Firefly/Serenity stories. I love the series so much that I honesty can't stand to see fanfictions made of them. |
